226 Cape Road
Green Gables, PE C0A 1N0
Date Visited: June 2019
Site: A-98, A-90–PULL-THROUGH, FULL HOOKUPS, 30 AMP
We paid: $35 Canadian per night plus reservation fee ($11.00)
Review: We ended up coming here a day early because of rainstorms coming to Cape Breton, so we stayed in two different campsites, 98 and 90. Both were large, partially shaded, close to the beach, with full hookups. However, I think we preferred 98 because site 90 had poison ivy on one side (they even had a sign telling you about the poison ivy). Section A is close to the beach (a 2-minute walk) and very shaded.
Check-in process was smooth at the registration office. As with all Canadian national parks, you have to pay a park entrance fee as well as the campground reservation fee, so the Parks Canada Discovery Pass again paid for itself.
While the campground is very close to all the touristy stuff in Cavendish, it didn’t feel that way in the campground at all. It was wooded (with lots of mosquitoes), uncrowded, and a very short walk to a wonderful beach, where we saw 2 dozen bald eagles fishing. Next to the tent cabins, there’s a little porch area where you can watch the bald eagles over the river/lagoon. Gorgeous.
We would definitely stay here again. Just watch out for poison ivy.
