Review:

Railroad Park Resort includes a motel system where guests stay in refurbished railroad cards, a dining car restaurant, and the RV resort, where we stayed. It’s a beautiful setting in the mountains near Mt. Shasta, with views of Castle Crags and many evergreen trees that provide some shade and respite from the heat.

The campground road is rough with potholes, but the sites are large and spread out. Site #24 is a pull-through site that was fairly level on gravel/dirt. We ate a great dinner at the Dining Car Restaurant, located near the motel rooms (cabooses) and it’s a great place to walk around and admire all the train/railroad fixtures. Dinner at Yaks on the 5 a few miles up the road is a great treat as well. Site #12 was a little unlevel and in a very shady spot. We were escorted to our site by the onsite host.

Though it wasn’t much cooler here than in Redding, we would definitely stay here again if we were in the Dunsmuir area. It’s a beautiful setting.
