Review: Our first choice in the Little Rock area was the Maumelle Park Campground, which is an Army Corps of Engineers site, but they were full. Burns Park is operated by the city of North Little Rock and is kind of like Griffith Park in L.A., with a lot of different parts to it. The park sits right on the Arkansas River.
The campground is pretty with lots of trees (and mosquitoes). Hookups were barely adequate. Water is shared with the neighboring campsite, and the sewer connection was at a bad angle. Sites are fairly level asphalt pads.
We were warned that if the sirens went off for a tornado warning, we should come to the bathrooms, which contained the emergency shelter. Fortunately we only had thunderstorms, but no sirens.
We might stay here again if in the Little Rock area, but it’s not great.
