Review:

Colter Bay Campground is a large national park campground on the shore of Jackson Lake in the northern part of Grand Teton National Park. Campsites are large and wooded on gravel, but can be VERY unlevel, as 347 was.

Check-in is at a central drive-up kiosk (12 noon) and was fairly efficient, though if you get there later in the day, the line really stacks up.

We road our bikes down to Colter Bay Village to visit the general store (buy ice cream!) and the visitor center.  There are also some trails to the lake, though it can be a long walk, depending on your site’s location. There were deer in the campground and we had a ruby-crowned kinglet (small bird) that repeatedly tried to attack us through the RV window.

We booked here because we could only get one night in the RV campground next door. We would stay here again if we wanted to be in this part of the national park, though the RV sites are preferred because of hookups. We would get a different campsite, but it’s hard to know what you’re getting when you book online.
