REVIEW

This is a lovely campground along the Grace Coolidge Creek.  It is also very popular.  We booked six months in advance and were not able to get four nights in a row in the same site, so we had to move after two nights (no big deal).  47-E was the nicer of the two sites, right along the creek with lots of shade.  51-E was in the center loop with lots of grass, but no shade.

The campground has a water fill and dump station, so we took care of that before setting up camp.  The campground is right across the road from the Visitor Center, and right at the start of the Wildlife Loop Road (not to be missed).  There is a bike path from this campground to the Grace Coolidge Campground (short and fairly easy).

We chose this campground because of its central location to reach Mt. Rushmore, Wind Cave NP, and Jewel Cave NM, and its reputation for wildlife.  We would come back here in a second, but it does take planning ahead, especially in the height of summer.
