Review

We love national park campgrounds, and Riley Creek Campground is another winner! Check-in occurs at the Riley Creek Mercantile, where they also have a dump station and water fill station, critical to use because there are no hookups in the campground.

Once you receive your tag, you are free to select any site that is not previously reserved with a tag. We had reserved an A site because they are longer, so Judy and I went looking for two A sites next to each other. We found those in the furthest loop from the Mercantile, Caribou, but the sites were great.

Sites are large with gravel, somewhat unlevel, but doable. There is a ton of room between sites, with lots of trees and moss, so there is plenty of privacy. There is a wide path that connects the three loops to the Mercantile, so it only took us four minutes to walk from Caribou Loop to the store to get ice cream.

Because of all the shade and because it has been a relatively mild summer, we were just fine without air conditioning and didn’t need to run the generator much at all.

We would definitely stay here again if we came back to Denali National Park.
