Review: The campground is a large city park on a little bay on Lake Superior.
Sites in our section were pretty close together and can be muddy when it’s been raining (which it was for much of our stay). Sites are grassy and roads are gravel and asphalt. In another part of the campground (near the marina and along Cobblestone Beach), they seemed more spread out.
You can walk to the bay, and we had front-row seats for the 4th of July Fireworks shot over the bay. You can also ride bikes on the Gitchi Gami Bike Trail which parallels the main road along the lake. Angry Trout is a great restaurant for dinner.
We would probably stay here again if we wanted to be within reach of Grand Portage and the ferry to Isle Royale.
