Review: This campground was half empty the second week of October, and they usually close in the middle of the month. In August the place is packed and we had a lot of trouble getting four consecutive nights (we paid a lot of cancellation fees as we booked and cancelled, booked and cancelled in order to get our four nights).

Sites are very level, gravel sites with grass in between. Not many trees for privacy, but a nice perimeter walk borders a forested area. Even though it’s in town, it doesn’t feel like it. Site #6 was not great (flooded grassy area and potholes), but we didn’t have any choices, given that they were completely packed in August 2020. In August 2021, we were in site #102, which we really liked. It had some room for the cats to move around and had some shade. Good place for wifi signal when doing a Zoom PD.

We would stay here again when visiting Yellowstone.

Very friendly staff. You have to unhook water at night if it might freeze. No propane on sight, but the Mobil gas station down the street does on-board propane fills. The park is very clean and seems well-organized.

You’re very close to the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center, which is great to visit. And it’s a beautiful drive into Yellowstone every morning along the Madison River, watching the elk herds in the fog.

Site #261 which borders the national forest boundary and is next to the maintenance shed
Site #6 is close to the road and floods from the sprinklers.
