Review

The Santa Cruz North/Costanoa KOA campground is located within the grounds of the Costanoa resort just off Highway 1 between Santa Cruz and Pescadero. You drive down a road lined with eucalyptus trees before a security guard checks you in and then you proceed to the KOA check-in shack.

The grounds are extensive with a fair number of trees around the property, though not necessarily between campsites. Sites are level gravel with adequate room between them. The grounds are well cared for with lots of flower beds and lawns.

Site K-46 was in the second loop, which contained some cabins and smaller sites. We think that the first or third loops would be preferable. Most of the sites have a private deck that you can use for sitting or even a tent.

You can walk from the campground across Highway 1 and take a couple of different hikes within Ano Nuevo State Park, down to the beach or along the cliff. You’re also only a 3-mile drive to the Ano Nuevo entrance where you can hike to see elephant seals.

We ate one night at the Cascade Restaurant right on site–very good food.

We would definitely stay here again to visit the elephant seals or for day trips up to Half Moon Bay or down to Santa Cruz. They charge you $10 per hour if you arrive before 2:00 check-in. Otherwise, this is a very nice park.
