We were able to make reservations at Cottonwood, though there are no hookups here (just like at Juniper in the North Unit). 

Getting to the campground was an adventure as the park road was under construction and in very bad shape.  Wonderful campground hosts made the check-in process very smooth.

Our campsite was private and grassy, with adequate shade in a nice location.  The campground is a good location for hiking, going to the Visitor Center, and doing the scenic drive through the park.  If you can do without hookups, this is a great place to stay.
