Review: Nice campground right off I-70. Great for a stopping place between Denver and Kansas City. We had tried to get a spot at Ellis Lakeside Campground (no reservations taken), but it was full when we got there, so we kept going. I was able to get a reservation over the phone with WaKeeney KOA, and the check-in process was very smooth.

Office staff were very friendly and we were escorted to our pull-through site. All utilities worked well at this level, gravel campsite. Campsites have ample room. Not many trees, so not much privacy. It was hot and somewhat windy, but not unexpected at this time of year.

They have a nightly ice cream social and a daily pancake breakfast. Their laundry room was very clean with newer washers and big dryers, very reasonably priced. The pool was being used by a family and looked like a lot of fun. There is an outside picnic area right next to the pool. Their wifi was one of the best we’ve encountered.

This was one of our better experiences at a KOA. We would definitely stay here again if we needed a place in Western Kansas.
