Review:

Whistlers Campground is a very large campground located just outside the town of Jasper in Jasper National Park. Each loop has about 15 sites and they are pull-through, level, gravel sites with full hookups. Each site has a wooden picnic table and a fire ring, and firewood is provided free of charge.

The check-in area is huge with plenty of room to park large rigs. The check-in staff were very helpful, reminding us that there are bears in the area. A grizzly had killed an elk calf just the day before in the campground.

When we pulled up to our site, there were several female elk grazing nearby and evidence that a bear had visited our site earlier (scat). While there are fewer trees here than there used to be, we found the campground to be delightful—surrounded by mountains and a perimeter of evergreen trees, with updated bathrooms, and well-functioning hookups.

When we came back in 2025, it was obvious that the wildfires had blown through the campground and caused massive devastation. Nevertheless, Parks Canada and the Jasper Community did a great job of getting the campground open for business in a very short timespan. Though we missed the trees, we still loved being here, and the elk were still frequent visitors. The 50 loop wasn’t as good as the 52 loop, but it was fine!

We would definitely stay here again if we came back to Jasper National Park.
