Yosemite National Park-Wawona Campground

Yosemite National Park, CA 95389

Date Visited: July 2016

Site #21 (A LOOP): PULL-THROUGH, NO HOOK-UPS

We paid: $7 PER NIGHT (SENIOR PASS DISCOUNT)

Review:  We couldn’t get 5 consecutive nights in Upper Pines Campground, so we had the first night here in Wawona and then moved to the valley the next day. This site was a pull-through parallel to the road, but it was really just a wide spot in the road, not very long.

Yosemite has strict generator hours, 7-9 am, 12-2 pm, and 5-7 pm. This can be brutal when the weather is hot, like it was when we were there.
The campground is a bit of a walk to the Visitor Center if you don’t have a car, and a shorter walk to Loop B for the Ranger Talk. There were a few mosquitoes, but it wasn’t terrible.

They have a dump station and you can get water there, but it’s by the visitor center, not that close to the campsites.
You come here because it’s Yosemite, not because it’s a great campground. It was dusty and hot, but still pretty, with lots of trees around us (if not immediately in our campsite).

We would stay here again, though it would definitely be better on a cooler day.

One of our GPS devices did not want to route us to the Wawona Campground, but we didn’t have any problems with the size of our RV. Garmin said there was a height restriction, but we didn’t see any problem on the route.
