Kinnikinnick Campground & RV Park

Review: 

We stayed at Kinnikinnick in Port Edward, BC, because it was close to Prince Rupert, which did not have any acceptable campgrounds. 

This was a very challenging campground to navigate. There is a steep slope as you come into the campground and head to the right. Had we known better, we would have headed to the left to park and check in. As it was, we ended up on a very steep slope (with the other 2 rigs in our group also dealing with slopes) in order to check in. The person at check in was less than helpful, though when we met the owner later on, she was very helpful.

We were supposed to take Site H, but got mixed up and took Site I instead. Both were back-in sites on a hill and both were pretty narrow (though we did have room for our slides).  The sites were lovely with lots of trees and bushes, but it was tough to get into them and they were quite unlevel on gravel. There was significant road noise as trucks would go roaring by on this spur highway off the Yellowhead.

We were in electric/water sites, and it appeared that the full hookup sites were mostly taken by long-termers. The campground was walking distance to the port area of Port Edward, but there wasn’t much to do there.

It was about a 20-minute (beautiful) drive to the main part of Prince Rupert and about the same to the North Pacific Cannery in the opposite direction. Roads were often rough.

We would possibly stay here again if we wanted to stay in the Prince Rupert area, simply because there aren’t other options available. But we wish they would have less steep slopes and better signage, especially when you first arrive and don’t know what to expect.
